Medjool Dates

Dates are one of the oldest known dry fruits in the history of the world. The origin of the dates can be traced to the Middle East about 50 million years ago. Dates are derived from the phoenix dactylifera tree. Medjoul dates range from dark brown to dark purple in color. An estimate of 8.5 million metric tons of dates is produced in a year, with countries in North Africa and the Middle East being the largest producers.
